MODERN MOSAIC KNITTING
Travel into the wonder of mosaic knitting with Melissa Leapman! From haute fashion runways to bestselling Ravelry patterns, mosaic technique is extremely hot right now. In this hands-on, project oriented class, learn how mosaic patterns are formed and then use this simple slip stitch method to create a bold, contemporary fabric using Melissa’s pattern ‘HONKY TONK.’
Yarn: 1,120 yards fingering or sport weight yarn in two contrasting colors. We recommend Madrona from Hikoo yarns in two highly contrasting colors. Two skeins of each color will be needed to complete the shawl.
HONKY TONK Kits are available for purchase, please inquire at the shop! A digital copy of the pattern is included with purchase of yarn from LYS or you may purchase and download a pattern from the designer here.
Needles: US #6 -bring a variety of adjacent sizes
Optional materials: Stitch markers, scratch paper, highlighter tape, and a digital or manual row counter.
Skills needed: Advanced beginner through advanced knitters welcome. Basic pattern reading skills are a must and familiarity with increasing and decreasing is recommended.
Midday, we’ll share a delicious lunch buffet specially prepared at the Kling House Restaurant.
